Authenticity.Kindness.Relentlessness
This is how Jonathan Hurley lives his life: 3 Pillars
AUTHENTICITY: live your truth, no matter what. I feel everyone should be able to live their truth and be who they are without fear or hesitation.
KINDNESS: If we all show kindness, empathy, and compassion for one another: The world will be a better place for us all.
RELENTLESSNESS: Being relentless in the pursuit of your truth, and authentic self is the key to success in my eyes.
Korean-American Adoptee guitarist Jonathan Hurley grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. Currently living out his musical aspirations and dreams in Music City (Nashville, TN). Jon’s musical background started early on. His mother signed him up for piano lessons. Jon’s early influences ragtime and mowtown still stand out to this day.
At five years old, his first albums were Thin Lizzy’s “Jailbreak” and “Van Halen I”. Jon’s passion for this music grew over time. Picking up classical instruments in school (piano, viola, trombone, percussion); his passions for Rock were undeniable.
Everything changed when Jon broke his leg on a dirt bike. Constricted to a wheelchair all summer break. Jon’s cousin, Matt Boland, taught him the basics of guitar. All throughout the Summer, Jon practiced until his fingers bled. He became obsessed with learning the nuances of the instrument. Before long- he was learning tracks from Van Halen by rewinding CD’s on his walkman over and over again.
His life took a huge directional shift because of his principal, and other teachers in his middle school - John Whitney (formerly of Tower of Power"), Duane Habecker, and Jim Krier. Teachers started a Rock and Roll Club at 7 am on Friday mornings before school. Jon’s future was solidified by one experience. (Playing Whitney’s ‘59 Strat through a ‘59 Bassman in an empty auditorium one morning) That was the moment he knew, he wanted to be a professional guitarist.
Fast Forward to Today: Jonathan is an accomplished touring & session guitarist whos played with esteemed members of the music industry such as: Tony Harnell (TNT), Hugh McDonald (Bon Jovi), Tyler Warren (Queen + Adam Lambert), Martin Motnik (Accept), Julia Lage (Vixen), Will Doughty (Poison), Joe Corson (Formerly EnuffZnuff), Ashley Mitchell (VAIN), Brandon Cook (Black & Blue, Brett Carslile (Great White) and more. Jonathan has toured the country, bringing happiness and smiles to people’s faces through his emotive playing. He also held the title of Production Chief, and Artist Relations liaison for the amplifier company “3rd Power Amplification”, and has served a critical role in the company in 2021-2024. The company is well known for providing amplification to many artists such as Joe Walsh (James Gang/Eagles), Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), and most recently Joe Satriani.
